How We Research Products
Every guide on SafeBuys follows the same process. This page explains how we choose products, where our information comes from, and what we will and won’t claim.
We research, we don’t lab-test
SafeBuys does not run a testing lab. Our guides are built from research: manufacturer specifications, current retailer listings, and reviews and measurements published by independent outlets. When a statement is subjective, such as how a product sounds or how easy it is to clean, we attribute it (“owners report”, “reviewers note”) instead of presenting it as our own experience. We never write that we tested or used a product unless we did.
How we choose products
- It must be on sale now. We confirm that each product is still sold, on the manufacturer’s site or at a major retailer. Discontinued models are replaced, and we say so when a model you may know has been retired.
- It must fit the guide. A guide for kettles under a price cap only includes models we found under that cap when we checked.
- We look for range. Where it makes sense, a guide covers different budgets and needs rather than ten versions of the same product.
Specs and prices
Specifications come from the manufacturer whenever possible. If sources disagree, we use the manufacturer’s figure or point out the difference. Prices change often, so we use them sparingly, write them as approximate (“about $X”) and include the month we checked them. Always confirm the price with the seller before you buy.
Updates
Each guide carries a note showing when it was last checked. We re-check guides when products are discontinued or replaced, and we review the whole site regularly. The most recent full review was in September 2026.
Independence
Manufacturers and retailers do not pay to be included in our guides and do not review our articles before they are published. SafeBuys may earn a commission from some links, as explained on our Affiliate Disclosure page, but that does not affect which products we include or what we say about them.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, please contact us. We fix factual errors promptly and update the guide’s “last checked” note when we do.
