This policy explains what personal data SafeBuys (safebuys.com) collects, why, and what choices you have. If you have a question about it, please reach us through the contact page or at sales@safebuys.com.

Data you give us

Contact form

When you send a message through our contact form, we receive your name, email address, your message, and the IP address the message was sent from. We use this only to reply to you and to deal with spam. Messages are delivered to our email inbox and kept only as long as needed to handle your request.

If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your name and email address to send you new guides and updates. Our newsletter is run through Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), which stores your details on our behalf. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time.

Comments

When you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and website you enter, plus your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. Your email address is never shown publicly. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture; Gravatar’s privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Comments and their metadata are kept so that follow-up comments can be approved automatically.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email and website in cookies so you don’t have to type them again; these last one year. Site administrators also receive login cookies when they sign in. We do not use advertising cookies.

Server logs and security

Like most websites, our hosting server records basic technical information such as IP addresses, pages requested and browser type. These logs are used to keep the site secure and working, and are deleted on a regular schedule.

Fonts and embedded content

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers. Articles may also contain links or embedded content from other websites; those sites may collect data about you as if you visited them directly.

Links to other websites

Our guides link to manufacturer and retailer websites. Once you leave SafeBuys, that site’s own privacy policy applies. Some links may be affiliate links, as described in our Affiliate Disclosure.

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers named above (our host, Mailchimp for the newsletter, Gravatar for comment avatars, Google Fonts) to the extent needed to run the site, or when required by law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. You can also request an export of the data we hold about you from your comments. To make a request, contact us through the contact page. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
